Abstract
My research focuses on mechanisms of inflammatory diseases of the CNS. In this large area my special interests are the inflammatory reactions in epileptic disorders. The study of Rasmussen encephalitis, antibody-associated encephalitides and other forms of epilepsy are performed in close cooperation with Prof. Dr. Christian Bien in Bielefeld, Germany. This work is complemented by the study of other diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis and various viral encephalitides. Besides the analysis of human brain we also study animal models of autoimmune or virus induced inflammatory CNS disease which may give new insights in the development of CNS inflammation.
