The Medical Neuroscience Cluster-Conference “Work in Progress” is a conference-style course, registered by students as the Thesis Seminar WS 2025. Jointly organized by all doctoral programs within the Medical Neuroscience Cluster, this two-day event offers PhD students the opportunity to present their current research through poster presentations, short or keynote presentations.
Since only students present during the conference, it provides a unique platform to gain a broad and insightful overview of ongoing projects within the Medical Neuroscience Cluster. Moreover, it allows participants to practice communicating their work to a larger audience and receive valuable feedback on the content, structure, and delivery of their presentations.
The deadline for abstract submission and registration is Sunday, November 30, 2025, and will not be extended. Please note that your presentation title may differ from the one submitted, if necessary. However, the information you provide will be used for the preparation of the program.
Medical specialists (Fachärzte) participating in the Medical Neuroscience Cluster Conference can earn 10 points per day for the diploma training program (DFP) of the Austrian Medical Chamber. For crediting of the DFP points, separate participant lists will be prepared and will be on display at the conference. The personal physician ID number will be needed for completing the DFP points request. Please send an e-mail to: neuroscience-work-in-progress@meduniwien.ac.at

Guidelines for Oral Presentations
Your first slide should include the following information:
- Your name
- Your institution/department
- Your principal investigator (PI)
- The grant or funding body supporting your project
- Your thematic doctoral program
Begin your talk with an introduction that clearly defines your research question and sets it in a broader scientific context. Keep in mind the diverse academic backgrounds of the audience: aim for clarity, avoid excessive use of abbreviations, and explain key concepts when necessary.
Please adhere strictly to the allotted time:
- 12 minutes for short presentation + 3 minutes discussion
- 25 minutes for keynote presentation + 5 minutes discussion
As a general rule, one slide per minute is recommended to help maintain a clear and structured presentation.
Guidelines for Poster Presentations
The dimensions of the posters should be in the standard A0 portrait format, i.e. 841 mm (horizontal) x 1189 mm (vertical) edge length.
Material for mounting of the posters will be provided.
There will be two poster sessions with the required attendance of the presenting author at one of the days, based on odd or even numbers. All posters should be staying on the boards throughout the meeting.
