The PhD program in Neuroscience belongs to the PhD program of the Medical University of Vienna (N094) with lectures and courses held in the English language. All students performing their PhD theses at the CBR are part of this program. PhD students from external laboratories can apply to attend the Neuroscience program.
The program is structured in a Neuroscience specific part and a general part. The general part covers Ethics and Good Scientific Practice, Project Management and Patent Affairs and other topics. The Neuroscience specific part consists of a basic lecture “Basics of Neuroscience” and a practical course “Methods and Techniques in Neuroscience (8 semester hours) in which nine research units lead small groups of students (max. 12) through the theory and practice of techniques used in neuroscience research. In addition a Journal Club, presentation of the Work in Progress and a PhD-seminar must be attended each semester.
